Have you already adopted a child, or have a child placed with you for adoption, and live in Berkshire or Swindon? Or do you have a Special Guardianship order and live in Wokingham or the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead? If so, the Anchor Team may be able to offer you support, subject to an assessment.

We work together with families to support you and your child to make positive changes, build healthy relationships, and for your child to reach their potential and thrive.

First meeting

Our first meeting with you is usually without your child. We do this because we find it is often easier for you to speak openly without your child present. We are also aware that your child may have had many professionals involved with their lives – meeting unnecessarily with us may be confusing and distressing for them.

We meet both face to face and online.

We want to understand:

  • You and your child’s family history
  • How your child is currently functioning, at home and at school
  • The attachment relationship between you and your child
  • How your child’s difficulties impact them

Next steps

Once we have a joint understanding of the difficulties your family is experiencing, we may offer:

  • Parent/Carer consultations
  • Groups
  • Individual work

For more information, see our leaflet on services for families (to follow).
