Adoption support during lockdown

The Adopt Thames Valley Permanence Support Team have been getting used to life under lockdown, and are working hard to continue supporting adoptive and special guardianship families all over the Thames Valley area.

We have been offering support to many families using video calls where it isn’t possible to visit in person, and we have been attending virtual meetings to try to keep plans running smoothly during this unpredictable period.

We are proud to say that Helpdesk has continued to run throughout this time, offering support, advice and information, and our Front Door has received 136 enquiries between April and June. Helpdesk always aims to respond to referrals within five working days, however we are currently experiencing a very high volume of calls, so please bear with us if this is not possible.

The Government has provided extra money to the Adoption Support Fund which ATV Permanence Support Team have put to good use to set up additional online workshops and webinars, as well as extra therapeutic support for children and parents.

If you are an Adopter or Special Guardian in the ATV area and would like to find out more about our current offer, please check our latest mailouts or contact Helpdesk at ATV.permanencesupport@oxfordshire.gov.uk
